BODY TRUST

Trust is a crucial component of recovery. Think about other relationships in your life. Imagine what they would be like if they lacked trust. The relationship would be filled with questioning, doubt, and anxiety. After all, a relationship can’t truly be intimate, connected, safe, and secure if it lacks trust. Is there a relationship more intimate than the one you have with your body??

You may be wondering what trusting ones body looks like. Here are some examples. Since this list isn’t exhaustive please comment below if you have anything you’d add:

.

. •you know what hunger feels like and that it can range from subtle to strong. Whenever it shows up, you don’t judge, doubt or question it. Rather you listen to it by honoring it

•you know what fullness feels like and this can also range from subtle fullness to overly full. You’re able to tune in and decide when you’ve had enough without judgement, guilt, or concerns

•when cravings show up, you take that as a sign that your body wants/needs something (again there is no side order of judgement)

•you know that you body has complex mechanisms in place to manage your energy needs; you don’t have to micromanage yo’ body

•you know hunger and fullness just like any other biological experience can fluctuate; some days you’ll be hungrier than others, other days you may experience less hunger

•you can choose what kind of movement feels good-you don’t have to do the new craze or what you see other people recommending on Instagram. You don’t like running sprints? Guess what, you don’t have to run sprints!

•you know your body constantly and consistently needs energy-it doesn’t matter the context of the day-you need to give your body adequate energy •you know you can enjoy food! There are no consequences to this! It makes life better

•you know that your body is on your team-it’s NOT against you

•you know your bodies needs are different than anyone else’s!  So no matter what anybody else is eating or how they’re moving, it doesn’t mean you have to

What else would you add?!
